Happy Monday! What a fun weekend! On Saturday we decided to head to the pool for the morning. We headed back to the Pavilion at Lemay for a fun morning. Miss H had a blast until she figured out how it get her puddle jumper off and she didn’t want to wear it anymore. We even took a few laps in the lazy river. But before all of that, I headed to the Farmers Market for our CSA basket. How pretty are all these varieties of tomatoes?
We came home for naps and for me to decide what to do with so many tomatoes! Since we aren’t fan of fresh tomatoes, I opted to make spaghetti sauce. We had probably 8lbs from the past 2 weeks and between the insane amount and the fruit flies, we had to do something!
This was way more time consuming than I thought. Chopping 3 onions and 12 cloves of garlic and peeling tomatoes all to then simmer for 3 hours! I was so excited because I was able to use a Parmesan rind that I had in the freezer for an occasion such as this! The house smelled amazing!
After dinner, I decided to treat everyone to breakfast treats in the morning and I whipped up some overnight cinnamon rolls. They turned out pretty, but I have some practice to do for a consistent log.
Then on Sunday morning, these went in the oven for 30 minutes and I made a quick frosting. They were heaven!
We spent the morning at one of our favorite parks, but it was starting to get a little warm and the slides were too hot to slide on. Miss H decided she needed a quick run through the splash pad too and then we had lunch at Panera with my giftcard from my taste test earlier in the week! I love free lunch.
Side note – the Power Kale Caesar Salad is yummy!
Then that evening, I took my BFF Melissa to see Kelly Clarkson, Pentatonix and Eric Hutchison. I randomly got an tweet from Cricket Wireless asking if I would want to go to the show for free in exchange for sharing our experience – twist my arm! I had frantically called Melissa earlier in the week seeing if she wanted to go, because she has a girl crush on JC just like I do!
I wasn’t expecting much, maybe some lawn seats, but turns out, we were ROW 13! Super awesome seats!
I hadn’t heard of Pentatonix before, but they were awesome! They are an acapella group that does covers of songs. There were some major fans there because I said “I don’t know who these people are” and a super fan turned around and basically gave me the riot act on who they were. Pretty funny.
Kelly did not disappoint. She sang all of her great hits and a few of her new ones. She was so down to earth and was so real – and funny! Her wardrobe choices were questionable, but she changed 4 times during the show. Song after song, oh so good! I guess with a voice like that, you can do whatever you want!
Her 2nd dress is what I called the Sugar Plum Fairy dress. She even sang Heartbeat Song with Pentatonix. So good! The stage was pretty awesome, and overall great show!
Thanks again to Cricket Wireless for the tickets – we had a blast!
So that was my weekend! Lots of fun – lots of fun activities planned this week. Lots of swimming, a few story times at the library and our first Parents as Teachers session too!
Have a great week!
