Thank you to Anheuser-Busch and Warm Springs for the invitation to visit. All opinions are my own.
It is officially spring and Warm Springs Ranch is open for the season! The Ranch this past weekend, and before they did, we got a sneak peek of all the hustle and bustle what it takes to run everything.
What is Warm Springs Ranch?
WSR is the breeding farm and training facility for the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales. It’s about 2 hours west of St. Louis, definitely a fun day trip to make. If you’re a fan of the famous Clydesdales, this is a trip not to miss. Learn about the origin and how these horses are born, raised, trained, and ultimately added to the world-famous Budweiser Hitch Team.
Hattie and I headed out with our friends from STLMotherhood, and get up close with the newest additions to the Ranch. We got to meet Carly, the first born of the season, and learned 2 more had been born that week. Our tour guide shared that they are expecting 22 foals over the season. It is a carefully orchestrated process they definitely have done this a time or two.
A Working Farm
WSR is currently home to over 80 majestic Clydesdales. You’re going to a working farm, so you have the opportunity to meet the handlers and ask them any questions you may have. Our first top on the tour was to meet the newest additions to the Ranch. This little guy was so new that they hadn’t even given him a name yet. He was so friendly, and Hattie just thought he was adorable. Also, these mommas do hard work, their foals come in at about 120 lbs when they are born!
We headed around back to see more of the Clydesdales. It was such a gorgeous day, everyone was out wanting to say hello. Now, don’t expect a show or tricks from these horses, they are here to train, learn and grow. You’re visiting a working farm, so you’ll get to see the what it takes to care for these horses on a daily basis.
We got to walk through the barn to see everyone getting a spring cleaning. With baths, shaves and trims, they are officially ready for visitors!
One last visit to the mommas who are due in the next couple of weeks. I’m sure they are ready to be done carrying those babies around! So fun to see them in their final stages of pregnancy.
Visit Warm Springs Ranch
If you’re looking to add this to your plans, be sure to make a reservation as they do book out. You have the options of the Guided Walking Tours or the Private VIP Tours. Both are a great way to learn about the history of the Clydesdales. Prices start at $15 per person. We love stopping in Columbia and having lunch and making a day out of it.
Have you been to Warm Springs Ranch before?
