Okay, officially jumping on the hot chocolate bomb train. We’ve received a few of these as gifts over the past few months and they are so much fun. Why not give them a try and make them on my own? For a while, silicone spheres were hard to find because of the popularity of the DIY craze. These DIY Unicorn Hot Chocolate Bombs are the perfect treat for a chilly day or a fun craft with kids.
Ingredients
You don’t need too many ingredients for this, the mold, premade hot chocolate, cookie icing, sprinkles, and candy melts.
Step By Step Process
This recipe is all about assembly. Take your time and make sure you give yourself enough time to set eat step. Pour candy melts into a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds or until melts have fully melted. Spread the candy melts up the sides of the mold until every bit of the mold is covered. Let the molds sit for about 5 minutes & re-spread any of the candy melts that sank to the bottom of the molds. Place the molds in the refrigerator for about 30-45 minutes.
Once set, carefully remove the candy melt spheres from the mold. Fill half of the spheres with the hot cocoa powder, sprinkles & marshmallows. Don’t overdo it. Place a glass plate in the microwave for one minute. Carefully, remove the plate and immediately place each chocolate sphere on the hot place to heat the edges to the filled sphere. Pro Tip – You can use the tip of your finger to smooth the melted candy around the seam. Use the icing to draw lines back and forth over the bomb and then cover in sprinkles before everything dries.
