This post is in partnership with Verde Farms. All opinions are my own.
Father’s Day is upon us and this year, we are grilling. The only difference is that we’re not making burgers or grilling steaks, we’re making The Best Grilled Cheesesteak with Verde Farms. We’re feeding a crowd and I was just so excited to put a twist on our festivities this year. A classic Cheesesteak sandwich is loaded with peppers and onions and covered with gooey smokey provolone cheese. We’re using strip steak from our friends at Verde Farms. I know that when I pick up a Verde Farms steak, it will have all the flavor and texture I need to make the perfect meal.

How to Slice Your Steak
There is a secret art to making these steak sandwiches, and it starts with your freezer. To make sure you can get the thinnest slices of steak, you’ll want to put your steaks in the freezer for about 20 minutes to firm up. This will help them slice so much easier and be ready for the grill. Make sure you have a super sharp knife too, that will help with your slicing.
Grilled Cheesesteak Sandwiches
I love using the grill in the summer because it keeps my kitchen clean. This recipe is just 2 steaks, a couple of peppers, an onion, salt, and pepper and you’re good to go! We recently picked up a flat top griddle for our outdoor grill, but you could easily do this indoors on your stove as well. We like to get our grill super hot and pre-heated around 500 degrees. For this dish, I like to toast my buttered buns first just in case there is excess moisture from the veggies.
Now in our home, we have opinions about peppers and onions. I’m team onion while the rest of my family is not. For that reason, we cook the peppers and onions separately. You don’t have to do that, but you can! I also like to have a variety of peppers. If you love green peppers, use those instead! Don’t forget to generously salt and pepper all the veggies and the steak slices.
Once your veggies have gotten tender, add the meat. This will go super quick as you’ll want that quick sear on the steaks. Gosh, that looks so good! Once your steak is cooked, mix everything together. Then, with a spatula, evenly separate the veggie and steak mixture into 4 rows the length of the buns. This is critical for easy sandwich assembly.
Add two pieces of provolone cheese to each pile and close the grill lid. Let the cheese melt for 1-2 minutes. Then just scoop your pile of deliciousness, and add it to that toasted bun waiting for you.
Oh man, that looks like it came straight from a deli. How good does that look? You did it with minimal ingredients and quick prep!
