Yesterday was my 35th birthday. Over the weekend we had grand plans to go to an upscale hotel here locally and then go to what Jeff called “The Hipster Bar” and play ski-ball and have fun cocktails with our friends. Unfortunately, a sheet of ice canceled those plans, but I still had a dress ready to go! Earlier this year I had joined the PRO program at Rent the Runway and with that program you get a free birthday dress. So of course, I needed a reason to go out! Don’t worry – this isn’t a sponsored post – but there is a referral link if you’re interested in trying it out for yourself!
I had my eye on this dress from the moment I wanted to go out. I’m still in that plus sized category, so I always get worried about limited options with dresses and I try to stick to options that aren’t so snug around the hips and are forgiving. This one, I loved. The material was thick and heavy – perfect for winter. The thing I love about RTR are the reviews – people give honest feedback on the sizing (because what do you have to lose?) They send you 2 size options and the one RTR suggested fit perfectly!
You can opt for a 4 day or 8 day rental depending on your needs. I went 4. It arrived on Friday with the intent of returning to UPS on Monday. When our plans and the temprature went south, I hopped on RTR Chat to see if there was a possibility of extending my rental 1 extra day and inquired what that fee would be. They were so nice and granted me the 1 extra day for free and Jeff mailed in back this morning!
We ended up going out to a nice dinner on my birthday just the two of us and it was quite lovely. Don’t mind the pics of me FREEZING here! Of course, they are predicting 50’s for Christmas later this week. Crazy Missouri weather.
Overall, I’ve been very happy with the Rent the Runway Pro Program. I’m debating on renting another dress for my gala in February, which how I originally got involved with renting dresses to begin with. Overall, great service, nice plus size selection and awesome customer service! Overall, A+ in my book!
Have you tried Rent the Runway?

I love this idea. As a SAHM I don't need a dress to keep on hand and renting one sounds like the perfect solution.
Is the hipster bar Jeff referring to Start Bar?
I would love an excuse to try RTR! This dress looks fab on you! And I still can't believe you braved the freezing cold for these photos!
