With fall rolling in this past week, we are officially into soup, chili and stew season! It is the season for chunky sweaters, cozy blankets, warm delicious dinners that make you feel good and you don’t spend a whole lot of time making. I wasn’t able to go back and defend that title (you know, having a baby), but I bet I’d win again if I was in the running!
I like to call it award winning and mom winning because I keep these ingredients on hand in my pantry year round for quick, easy and healthy meals. I know there is a lot of debate about chili with or without beans, but in our house we are pro-bean and love a variety of beans! My Ultimate 5 Can Turkey Chili is packed with Chili Beans, Kidney Beans and Black Beans all from S&W Beans. Pair it with 2 cans of my secret mystery ingredient ( Okay, it’s fire roasted tomatoes) and you have the perfect chili for your favorite sporting event, potluck and more!
With this chili, the hardest thing to do is to use a can opener and get all those cans open. It’s that easy! Plus, I really need a new can opener. Really, after opening 5 cans, you’ll be set and ready to go! I love the color of this chili. The darkness of the chili powder just gives it a gorgeous color.
At our house we like to have a topping station of all the yummy options. Hattie’s favorite are crushed cheese crackers on top. I keep a selection of sharp cheddar cheese, sour cream, crackers, and my personal favorite diced onions. I always make a big pot and we have leftovers for turkey dogs and chili mac for later in the week. One pot will feed us for many meals!
