The past few months at our house have been full of big girl things for Miss H. We’ve almost conquered potty training and we decided it was time to say good-bye to our friend Bink. Bink has been here in one color or another Soothie since she was born. She was never one of those kiddos who needed it constantly and really just needed it for naps, bed or when she was really upset or sick. We were worried that with in the middle of potty training she would regress, but we decided to go for it.
For two weeks before we went to Build-a-Bear we talked all about how big girls didn’t need a Bink anymore and that she could be able to give it to another baby. Once we got her buy in, we decided it was time and off to the mall we went!
Hattie & Daddy picking out the PERFECT Peppa!
With Bink in hand, Miss H helped fluff Peppa up. The noise scared her a little so Daddy helped out.
Then it was onto outfit selections. Bonus – Peppa comes with her red dress, so we told Miss H she could get another outfit. This is also the first time she’s been really interested in a doll with clothes to change, so we went with it.
So overall things have been going well without her bink – but naps have disappeared. We don’t know if it’s the elimination of Bink or summer or what, but we now have quiet time in her bed for 60-90 minutes. I think the Bink helped to calm her down and she hasn’t quite found a soothing mechanism to help with that at nap. At night she’s just so exhausted that she’s out by 7:30. We’ll continue to work on it, but definitely an ongoing struggle.
How did you get rid of the pacifier? Any tips?

Such a great idea! I love that you had them put a little less stuffing in, so she can feel Bink when she hugs Peppa. Neither of my kids would take a pacifier, so we haven't had to deal with that, but one of my friends used my daughter the motivation to have her daughter give them up. Ha ha, though since Emmy didn't take them we just have them in a bag. 🙂
That's such a cute way to do it! We had the Bobo Fairy come to our house – story here and that was a hit. I also had no idea Build-a-Bear has Peppa! I kind of want to get one for myself… I mean Sadie 🙂
I wish I could help you on the nap! We ended up going cold turkey with Abbie last year after she bit through hers. I had been wanting to take it away anyway, but biting through it made it a choking hazard and the decision was made for us! She whined for a few days, but really has been okay without it. Hope the naps come back! Abbie still naps sometimes at 3.5, but we always have quiet time at minimum.
We did something similar for C. He wanted a Buzz that was nearly $55 so I told him that such a big boy toy meant that he couldn't have a baby paci. He handed it to me and said, "Buzz for big boy Connor" and we never looked back!
I have seriously never heard of this idea before! This is so cute! I might have to tuck this one away for Elyse one day!
