Hello, Friday. We meet again.
What a super busy week we had and today, we’ve got nothing planned except a hike and I have a doctors appointment to get my leg looked at. I’ve been having some seriously painful nerve pain behind my knee which has sidelined me from Barre for a few weeks. Better safe than sorry.
So I’m linking up with some of my favorite bloggers for my Friday Five!
Here we go!
1) ICYMI
I shared a quick recap of our fun week in the Wisconsin Dells and did someone say cocktail? I’ve got a sweet tea cocktail on the blog that is going to rock your socks off. I may have had to do a little bit of recipe testing to make it JUST right.
2) Whole30
I made the big announcement on Instagram this week that on Monday I began Whole30. I was so excited, jazzed, the works and now I just want to eat ice cream. Waaa. I thought I was doing so well until I found out some grilled chicken I had eaten was actually not compliant and it kinda bummed me out. It’s tough stuff. I had Brussel Sprouts and Pancetta for lunch yesterday. Not bad, but I made Hattie a PBJ and I kinda just wanted one of those. I don’t think I’m cut out for hardcore eating. I just love to eat and I love to bake…and CHEESE. Where is the CHEESE?!?! I’m going to try to stick to it, but I’m getting discouraged. Anyone tried/failed/words of encouragement/Bueller????
I did whip up some yummy popsicles with just 10 strawberries, the zest of a lime and the juice and a few tbsp. of water. Just pop it in a food processor and fill up the cups! Easy peasy!
3) Preschool Orientation
In less than 3 weeks, we’ll have a preschooler. You guys…A PRESCHOOLER!!! She’s going to be starting 1 half day a week and then next year go 2 and then the following year go 3 and then into Kindergarten. Hold me close. I was doing just fine at orientation until they started discussing the pick up and drop off process and how we must remain calm and show no emotion to not freak them out. NOT FREAK THEM OUT?!? I’m going to have to do one big ugly cry in the car on my way home. I may just cry until I pick her up!
4) Pool Hopping
We did our usual pool hopping this week – and this time we checked out Edge Aquatic Center. This was super nice and we had a great time! I also got to break in my new Lime Ricki suit and I LOVE it. Honestly, I didn’t think I ever looked great in a suit here lately, and this suit cries Cool Mom. Right? Or and I just too excited about a gingham suit? I may need to get another one before our Seaside trip! Also, can I bottle this epic tan…it looks good.
Miss H just loved this car wash style sprayer. She had to have ran through it 100+ times. Poor girl was worn out!
We also had a play date at Wapelhorst Pool and we didn’t last long. Miss H wasn’t feeling it and I have a feeling our tot times are numbered. She’s really only interested in big pools now, so I don’t think this will be a viable option for next year. We had a fun time though. I love my ladies of Thrive Moms Local – STL. We’re slowly building community and it is amazing!
I love this kiddo. I seriously don’t know what we’re going to do when she goes to school in 3 years. Go back to work? Pick up more blogging stuff? Consulting. I’m not sure, but I know I have to be involved at her school. Insert psycho mom comments here. For real, if we’re gonna do it, we’re gonna do it right!
5) Chick Fil a
Yesterday we had the opportunity to attend a tasting of their newest breakfast sandwich. I didn’t get a chance to enjoy it ( you know, Whole30), but Miss H LOVED hers! I’ve got some fun giveaways coming up too so you can try them so stay tuned!
And that’s where we are! We’re going to another activity on Saturday for Kidzxplor and then it should be a relatively low key weekend, which is what we need!
Have a great weekend! What are your big plans?
That pool looks pretty awesome and I'll take one of your Popsicle.
Those Popsicles look so good!
You'll be the head room mom, PTO president, etc. YOu'll be busy!
That swimsuit is fantastic. Being a classroom mom is so much fun! You'll love it. 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Missing out on things like your Chick-fil-A event was one of the hardest parts about Whole 30! I know that the authors say it's not a big deal to skip out, but on the other hand, life is just too short!! I think I already shared my experience with you (http://www.klein.co/2016/06/whole-30-part-2-good-bad-and-sad.html) – basically the Whole 30 made me REALLY sick and I had to stop. I also gained two pounds, and let me tell you, after fifteen days of not a single drop of wine, I needed about a whole bottle to deal with the fact that I had gained weight (I was following it to a T with three meals of meat and veggies, and I'm usually not a breakfast eater, so that could be it, though my cousin who had a fabulous experience gained weight as well – I know the goal of the program is not to lose weight, but I mean who would do it if GAINING weight was an outcome??). ANYWAY, that all being said, do what works for you. I'm grateful for the lessons my 15 days taught me, but next time I'm just doing another juice cleanse!!! (Way easier, was less time consuming, much shorter duration!!!) Also – we are starting preschool this year as well!! With a bang – THREE days a week! I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself (besides, you know, CRY in the parking lot 😉
Good luck with the rest of whole 30. I promise it gets better! Also your swimsuit is super cute!
