It is Apple Fest time at Eckert’s! I always love this time of year, the mornings are starting to get crisp, blankets are necessary and you make that switch from iced coffee back to hot.
It wasn’t really the case last weekend when we visited Eckert’s for their Apple Fest! The weather was warm, but not unbearable and we were ready for fun! Miss H was so excited to pick apples and we talked all about what we would make with them. Applesauce was her special request.
We arrived and it was one of those amazingly fun days when you get to see a lot of your favorite people all in one place. It’s always so fun when bloggers to get to meet up. While we waited for the wagons to take us apple picking, Miss H had a few minutes to play with the tractors and to work on her golf game.
Once we were out in the fields Miss H was a picking machine! Someone give her a job! We stopped to pick Jonathon Apples which were perfect for baking. Our friends Mariah, Lucy & Parker joined us on the hunt for the perfect apples. I always love taking Miss H apple picking because you get to have all the samples you’d like while picking. Let’s just say she did her fair share of sampling.
Miss H apparently wasn’t interested in sharing perfect apples with Lucy. Aren’t they just adorable in their matching gingham? It may have been just a little bit planned.
It was fun this year because Miss H understood the concept and wanted to go for the high apples in the tree. She called them the perfect apples. Happy to oblige, Jeff would hoist her up into the trees to pick. I secretly think he love it more than she did.
After our apple picking we headed over to the games and pony rides while we waited for our lunch reservation. Miss H remembered riding the horses last time and wanted to practice her lasso swinging and saying giddy up. Apparently a little too much Sherriff Callie at our house lately. After a few tears and a request to ride again, we walked over to ride the trains!
This was the first time Miss H has ever ridden a ride without Mom or Dad – Milestone! She didn’t waste any time ringing the bell in their train car. I’m not so sure Lucy was overly impressed with Miss H ringing it the entire time, but they both had a blast.
After our fun ponies, rides and games we were seated to lunch. One of my favorite things about the Eckert’s restaurant is the fried biscuits and homemade apple butter. I seriously could have just had a tall glass of sweet tea and a basket of biscuits, but sharing was the nicer thing to do. Jeff had the pulled pork sandwich again and he said it was superb!
After lunch, we had zero room in our bellies for anything else, but we moved over to the ice cream stand where I got a Dutch Apple Pie Concrete. I seriously have no idea how I could have eaten any more, but it was heaven in a cup. Miss H opted for vanilla with all the sprinkles which made her a happy lady. It really is a shame she has no personality. I wonder where she gets it from.
*Eckert’s invited us to go apple picking in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my goodness, this looks so fun! And her little outfit is perfect for apple picking. I wish we lived closer to something like this!
This looks like so much fun!!
Hattie's outfit is so cute! Our family took our first family trip to the apple orchard this past week. Our 11-month-old loved it, too. 🙂
Oh how I wish we had an Eckert's (or something like this) around us! I searched for over an hour and there are ZERO apple orchards around us. Such a bummer. You got some adorable photos!!
We love apple season in Maine! It looks like you had a great time. We are hoping to get out this weekend – hopefully the weather cooperates!
This is such a cute post that has me craving Apple season! We always go apple picking in the Fall and now I especially can't wait!
