It is officially winter. Gone are the yummy light summertime appetizers that you have been snacking on for months now. Enter the winter appetizers. These are a little heartier and are perfect for those chilly winter get togethers, tailgating and game nights.
Growing up, one of my favorite dips was a broccoli dip that my mom made, but I have over time put a little spin on it. My family just loves broccoli cheese soup during the winter, and I adapted their love of soup and my love of my mom’s dip to create Hot Broccoli Cheese Dip! It makes the perfect amount for a dip sized slow cooker. Just heat and go! My dip is made with all Borden® Cheese because in addition to quality ingredients, they add one more. Love.
This dip is so simple – just 5 ingredients. I always keep the ingredients on hand so I can whip it up if I have last minute guests arriving. Here is how I make it –
Easy Hot Broccoli Cheese Dip
Crowd pleasing hot broccoli cheese dip that is perfect for any event, tailgate or party.
Ingredients
- 8 oz Package of Borden® Cheese Finely Shredded Four Cheese Mexican Shreds
- 8 oz Package of Borden® Cheese Finely Shredded Sharp Cheddar Shreds
- 1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 8 oz Cream Cheese
- 1 Box Frozen Chopped Broccoli
Instructions
- Remove frozen broccoli and put in microwave safe bowl and microwave for 6-8 minutes until defrosted.
- Remove and squeeze out any remaining liquid from broccoli and return to bowl. Add 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, both packages of Borden® Cheese, and cream cheese.
- Stir to combine.
- Add to slow cooker and heat until cheese is ooey and gooey.
- Serve with fresh french bread and tortilla chips.
Talk about delicious. I think the Borden® Cheese Finely Shredded Four Cheese Mexican Shreds is what really gives it that real cheese pull goodness. My little family was trying to see how far they could stretch the cheese! So fun! If you don’t have a slow cooker, no problem! Just put into a 8×8 baking dish and bake at 350 for 30 minutes until bubbly.
The other great thing about this dip is how versatile it is! Make this dip and then toss with pasta for a fun macaroni and cheese. Or halve a baked potato night and spoon a little on top. Just add a little bacon, chives and sour cream! One other idea, turn it into broccoli cheddar soup! Just add chicken stock and extra broccoli and carrots for a quick meal. One dip, many uses!
Tell me, what are your go to winter appetizers? What kind of get togethers do you go to in the winter?

You had me 100% on this recipe till you threw in the Cream of Mushroom Soup. I can't even handle opening a can, let alone actually eating something with it. Do you have a suggest for a replacement ingredient?

I always sub cream of celery–my husband is anti-fungus…
