It is no secret that we love to eat around here. Between date nights and girls nights and brunches, I get to experience a lot of amazing cuisine that the St. Louis food scene has to offer. I was excited when SoFab wanted locals to share their favorite finds with their latest installment of The Local Dish. Stay tuned later next month where we’ll have favorites from all over the country! I can’t wait! Until then, here are some of my current favorite locals in St. Louis. At some point I should do a master list because we have so much we love to visit!
Olive + Oak – This is out go to for anniversaries, well thought out date nights and more. Located in Webster Groves, Olive & Oak is an amazing space with a touching story about how this restaurant came to be. We’re big fan of the cheese curds for an appetizer, the dip is superb and leave room for dessert. The butterscotch pot de creme is superb. I always make a reservation on our anniversary every year months in advance. There is walk in options, but reservations go fast.
Clover + The Bee – This is right next door to Olive + Oak and offers a faster casual atmosphere from the same owners. It’s adorable, Instagram worthy pictures, the lattes are amazing and I had the best egg sandwich I’ve ever had in my life there. If you’re looking for a warm and inviting space, this is it. Definitely kid friendly, too! Also, that wall is pure perfection! They just started serving early dinner offering too which I’ve heard is fantastic.
Anheuser Busch Pairing Dinners – This may be one of our favorite hidden gems since it’s not a typical restaurant. The Anheuser Busch Pairing dinners are an event to remember. They don’t have them all the time, so you’ll need to check the monthly calendar for the menu and date. Each meal is a multi-course meal with a AB Beer Pairing. You’ll want to plan accordingly, or get an Uber, because there is a lot of beverage to be had. Pace yourself. The thing we love is that a beer master and head chef will join you for the meal, and talk about the different options and why they chose what they did. It’s definitely an event to remember.
Publico – If you like Latin flare, then Publico is your place. We’ve been coming here for a few years now, and have fallen head over heels for the carnitas and brisket tacos. They are more of a small plate style restaurant and we always get a handful and share. Don’t forget the guacamole either! The margaritas are spot on and we love sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen work their magic. Our first time there, we sat at the counter and have always loved doing that ever since.
Peacemaker – My husband is a seafood nut. He can’t get enough. Lucky for him, Peacemaker has his love for Maryland Blue Crab taken care of. Now this is the kind of place that can take a while if you’re going to sit and sift through a crab. That’s just comes with the territory of cracking your own crabs. I much prefer a Crab Roll, because I’m lazy and like to watch him eat. Either way, delicious fresh seafood and a fun atmosphere. Great for a date night!
Russell’s Cafe – We’re a little late to the love of Russell’s game, but then again, we don’t live closer to the city. Russell’s in Chesterfield recently opened and we’ve been enjoying Sunday brunch here regularly. The Breakfast Hash is delicious and save room for an order of biscuits or their jumbo cinnamon rolls. Holy moly, the size of your head!
There are some of my favorites. Do you have a favorite St. Louis Restaurant?
