All Aboard the Polar Express! This exciting experience has made a triumphant return to St. Louis just in time for the holidays. We were lucky enough to get to check everything out before they opened last week, and I wanted to give you a quick sneak before you go! I like to think of ourselves as St. Louis Elves for Santa. He asked us to confirm it would be a magical adventure for all!
Two years ago we were able to ride and Hattie was tiny. You can see our experience here. This year we’re in full-blown toddler mode with questions and more questions. The magic and wonder in her eyes throughout the day were so fun to see. We put on our jammies and headed to Union Station and were ready for fun!
Once you arrive and pick up your wrist bands and golden tickets, you’re directed to a heated tent for activities. There are lots of friendly elves there to greet you. Hattie even shared some of her dance moves with one of the elves. You could write a letter to Santa or just hang out and enjoy the warm fire and holiday decorations.
Don’t forget to go outside and see the Fire & Ice Show. Our ride was a little early and it wasn’t quite dark, so we saw more fire than anything, but in the evening, it will be spectacular. If you have a little busy body like we do, be sure to bring a few quarters because you can feed the fish right outside the tent.
While we waited to board the train, we got to hang out with Holly and watch the opening act of the Polar Express.
Once we boarded we were greeted with 2 Chefs and a conductor. While on the 45 minute train ride, you’ll get to experience lots of fun dancing and singing and a reading of the Polar Express. About half way through the ride, you’ll arrive at the North Pole and see Santa! He’ll board the train and then make his way through the car meeting everyone.
Santa was so sweet and had a great conversation with Hattie. He asked her what she wanted for Christmas and he was great with her. You could see the Christmas Twinkle in his eye. Each child also receives a bell, just like in the book!
Allergies? No problem, the cookie they offer is gluten-free, dairy free and nut free. You’ll also get hot chocolate in disposable cups so you can take your mugs home ready to use.
To this day, I always get asked a question about this experience. People always ask if it was worth it taking a baby last time, and I will say yes! I think each time your child will get a different experience based on their age.
The Polar Express runs through the end of the month and definitely a memorable family opportunity. We’ll definitely continue going every year. Have you ridden the Polar Express before?
The Polar Express invited me to a media preview of the event. All opinions are my own.
