If you’re from St. Louis, there at a few things that you have in your kitchen 1) Provel Cheese 2) Toasted Ravioli and 3) the ingredients for Gooey Butter Cake. There is without a doubt a special place in my heart for Gooey Butter Cake. It’s often attempted outside these city limits, but really the good recipe is right here. I’m here to share that with you today, and be warned, it’s addicting! This is a staple at our holiday event, and hopefully it will be at yours too!
Gooey Butter Cake Recipe
1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
2 TSP Vanilla
1 Stick Butter Melted
1 Box Powdered Sugar (16oz)
1 Package of Cream Cheese – Room Temperature
Preheat Oven to 350. Combine Cake Mix, Melted Butter and 1 Egg in mixer. Remove and gently pat into a 9×13 pan for even layer. Back into the mixer (no need to wash) Add 2 eggs, vanilla and cream cheese and beat until cream cheese is smooth. Slowly add powdered sugar until all combined. Pour over first layer. Bake for 40-45 minutes. Let cool completely and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
