Our Saturday started out uneventful with us all sleeping in a little. We had a few curve balls thrown our way first of which was rain. I ran to pick up our CSA with umbrella in hand and this basket did not disappoint. We had planned on going to the local pool at 10, but a wave of storms were headed that way and we opted to wait. Miss H wasn’t feeling the best today either. We think it’s teeth. So she napped and we attempted the pool a little later.
To keep her entertained and the fever down, we let her play in our tub for the first time. We got all her pool toys our and she has a ball.
When she got up, she seemed better but we had a melt down once we got to the pool. She didn’t want to get in the water and just cried. Poor baby. We lasted all of 40 minutes and we came home to manage a returning fever and an unhappy baby.
Side note- if you don’t have a favorite pool towel, might I suggest a towel poncho. This one is from Amazon and it’s so easy. Even easier for changing out of wet clothes. Bonus – Miss H thinks it’s funny we call her Minnie when she wears it.
In between Popsicles and snuggles, I made a roasted garlic pork tenderloin and roasted sweet potatoes.
Sunday we had planned on going to brunch, but Miss H slept till 10:30. She definitely needed a day to rest. So we stayed home.
During nap, Brooke scored me a Little People Disney Castle for a great deal on a swap site so I tab to get that and cleaned it up before nap was over. Miss H loved it!
I also spent lots of time in the kitchen yesterday. Homemade pizza with fresh basil from the garden. Side note – making homemade dough is so much easier. I had a disasterous event with a ball of TJs dough a few weeks ago so I think I will stick to making fresh.
I also made homemade ice cream with vanilla bean paste. So good! Then I totally forgot I bought a ton of blackberries last week, so I made a blackberry crisp! I just love a streusel oat topping. Because the oats make it healthy, right?
So that was our weekend. Lots of food! We have a fun week planned. I get to go to the Panera test kitchen today! Super excited! Have a great week!
